How CEREC® Same-Day Crowns Work
Our CEREC system in our West Jordan, UT office can be used to create crowns, veneers, and onlays in the same day. We take digital images with the CEREC software, and using the CAD/CAM technology, a computerized 3D image of the mouth is created. We then use the software to design your crown based on the size and shape of your other teeth and/or the ideal position of the tooth.
The designed crown is then sent to our milling machine, which cuts the crown out of a block of porcelain in about 10 minutes. After we have assured the crowns fit in your mouth, most of the crowns (this depends on the material used) are fired for 25 minutes before being cemented in place. This eliminates the need for you to wear a temporary crown and come back for a permanent one. Since the software is so accurate, there is very little need to make any adjustments once the crown is in place.
