At Rigby Dental, Dr. Bradley Rigby and his team provide exceptional care at our two convenient locations in West Jordan and Sandy, Utah. If you are considering dentures, you likely have questions about the options available to you. We understand that choosing the right type of denture can feel overwhelming. To help, we have put together answers to some of the most common questions about the different types of dentures.
Dentures come in several forms, each designed to address specific needs. The most common types of dentures include full dentures, partial dentures, immediate dentures, and implant-supported dentures. Full dentures replace a complete set of natural teeth, while partial dentures fill in the gaps when some natural teeth remain. Immediate dentures allow patients to have teeth immediately after extractions, and implant-supported dentures provide extra stability by anchoring to dental implants.
Dr. Rigby performs a thorough examination of your mouth and discusses your specific needs and lifestyle to recommend the best option for you. Your decision depends on factors such as how many teeth need replacement, the condition of your gums, and your personal preferences regarding appearance and comfort.
Yes, partial dentures are designed to fit comfortably in your mouth. They are custom-made to match the contours of your gums and teeth, so they blend naturally. Although it may take some time to adjust, most patients find partial dentures an excellent solution for filling gaps left by missing teeth.

Implant-supported dentures are a modern option for patients seeking added stability. These dentures attach securely to dental implants, which are titanium posts placed in the jawbone. This essentially creates a sturdy foundation for your dentures and prevents slipping or movement during activities like eating and speaking. If you want something long-lasting and reliable, this option is worth considering.
This depends on the type of denture you choose. Immediate dentures are provided on the same day as tooth extractions, allowing you to leave the office with a new smile. However, permanent dentures typically require a few weeks for fabrication to ensure the best fit and comfort. Dr. Rigby and his team will work with you to create a timeline tailored to your needs.
Proper denture care is essential to maintaining both the appearance and functionality of dentures. Clean your dentures daily with a soft-bristle toothbrush and a mild denture cleanser. Avoid abrasive cleaning products that might damage them. Also, soak your dentures overnight in a recommended denture solution to keep them moist and maintain their shape. Regular dental checkups at our office help ensure your dentures remain in the best possible condition.
