How do clear aligners work?
Whether you opt for ClearCorrect or CandidPro clear aligners, the process is almost similar. First, you’ll schedule an appointment with your dentist to assess your teeth and determine your eligibility for clear aligner therapy. If so, the dentist digitally scans your teeth and uses advanced technology to devise a customized treatment plan. This plan maps your treatment pathway from the first aligner to the last.
Next, our dental lab will fabricate customized aligners based on the treatment plan. The aligners are worn for at least 20-22 hours daily, leaving just enough time to eat and clean your teeth. The aligners apply controlled pressure on your teeth, moving them into the desired positions over time.
You’ll progress through treatment by switching from one aligner to the next at home. The aligners gradually move your teeth, but many patients achieve the intended outcomes within 4-18 months. Once the last aligner comes off, we’ll give you a retainer to keep your newly aligned smile intact.
