Spread across West Jordan and Sandy, UT, where our practice is based, we are frequently asked about different dental procedures and how they can help maintain oral health. One of the most common concerns is the loss of a tooth and its impact on daily routines like eating and speaking. Today, we will focus on dental bridges, a popular restorative dental procedure that Dr. Bradley Steven Rigby specializes in.
Dental bridges, as the name suggests, literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. They consist of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials.
Missing teeth can make you self-conscious about your smile. But that’s not the only concern. The gap left by a missing tooth can cause the remaining teeth to shift or rotate into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. The imbalance caused can also lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. Dental bridges can help prevent these complications.
Here are some of the key benefits of getting a dental bridge:

Remember, a regular check-up with your dentist is crucial for maintaining your oral health. It gives your dentist a chance to probe problems underneath before they aggravate. Regular visits to the dentist will help in the early detection of potential problems and thus making the treatment of such complications easier and less time-consuming.
At Rigby Dental, our team of highly skilled and compassionate dentists brings together decades of experience and a shared commitment to excellence in patient care, ensuring our patients receive the highest level of care in a welcoming, state-of-the-art environment.
